When Presidential Debates "Go Gay"!
Get ready to settle in Thursday night to watch some history! On August 9th - the gay-rights group - Human Rights Campaign and Logo - the gay-oriented cable channel are sponsoring a first: A televised Democratic presidential forum focusing solely on gay-rights issues! The Republicans were also invited to their own forum - but "there was no interest".
All the major Democratic candidates are planning on attending - with the exception of Joe Biden and Chris Dodd. And issues that are scheduled to be addressed are anti-gay job discrimination, same-sex marriage and civil unions, hate crimes legislation and other timely gay issues.
My main issue that I want to hear about on Thursday personally - is what the candidates have to say on gay marriage - an issue which most of the candidates have steered clear of. With only Rep. Dennis Kucinich of Ohio and former Alaska Sen. Mike Gravel endorsing nationwide recognition of same-sex marriage. Even John Edwards is quoted as saying - regarding his view of the homosexual lifestyle versus his religious background, ""I feel enormous conflict about it. This is a very, very difficult issue for me."
So needless to say - this is a big thing to watch. Remember - it's possible that if the right pair of candidates win - we could have a great 16 years ahead of us - and for America!
You can even submit a question that you would like to have answered by any candidate HERE.
So watch! You can catch it on the cable network Logo on Thursday - August 9th 9pm ET/6pm PT. OR you can watch it LIVE online HERE.
